Part 3 - Writing in Science
Use the 20 words strategy to indicate what writing strategy you will use with your students before we meet again.
Strategies aligned with student writing:
- Roving paragraph
- Quick write
- RAFT
- List, Sort, Label, Write
- CER (claim, evidence, reasoning)
I will use the 20 words strategy with my students to learn about land and sea breezes in unit 5.
ReplyDeleteI plan to use the Roving Paragraph strategy at the end of our Earth's processes unit, using four sentence stems.
ReplyDeleteBefore we meet again, I will implement the roving paragraph. Students will emphasize and explain why the hydrosphere is important.
ReplyDeleteI really think the Roving Paragraph strategy will help my students review key concepts and form paragraphs using good transitions.
ReplyDeleteI will use the quick write strategy to have students describe a picture using both potential energy and kinetic energy.

ReplyDeleteBefore our next Literacy meeting, I plan on using the ABC Brainstorming strategy as a pre-test on Darwin's Evolutionary Theory.
ReplyDeleteI used the 20 words to explain the continental drift and the theory of plate tectonics. Some of the kids did really well. I did allow the ell kids to write the words in their own language.
ReplyDeleteI am still using the roving paragraph to help the ell kids for telpas writing.
I plan to use the roving paragraph. I will have students use this strategy to review over the content matter.
